Developments at The Green Box Q3

Developments

It remained quiet at the Green Box for the past few months. And yet it was anything but quiet. Since Kees Koolen bought the Eaton complex back in 2020, non-stop developments have happened. This metamorphosis continues in various phases, in which Eaton withdraws and makes way for The Green Box campus.

The developments of the past few months revolved around the progress of its own integrated sustainable energy system, the construction of new business spaces and the current and growing group companies of Koolen Industries, which, like the compact team of Koolen Industries itself, are located on The Green Box campus.

Our integrated sustainable system is now running excellently. In the first phase, two large roofs were renewed and fitted with 6620 solar panels, which generate approximately 2.3 MWh of electricity on an annual basis. A third roof (phase 2) was renovated and insulated this summer and is currently being fitted with 8380 solar panels, which generate another 3.7 MWh of solar power each year. This corresponds to the electricity consumption of around 1,800 average households. This green energy can be used to meet the energy needs of The Green Box campus, including charging electric cars via the charging stations that offer very attractive charging rates of group companies Floading and We Drive Solar.

The energy transition is now

Working at The Green Box revolves around a passion for energy transition. The energy transition must be facilitated and accelerated. Development and production of energy storage, smart software, energy conversion technology, and clean mobility: it is happening at The Green Box. It is the campus for clean energy companies and talents that work together to facilitate the energy transition with appealing solutions, for and with the customer.

The cooperation of companies on campus is an example for the future. Super B's high-quality lithium batteries integrate well with Smart Grid's smart software, whereas Nieuwe Weme plays an important role in, among other things, containerized solutions. This has already resulted in working solutions for places where there is insufficient connection to the electricity grid.

Innovation is needed to tackle the future of clean energy and that happens faster and more efficiently on a campus where like-minded people get together and pave the way for current and future generations. As a European centre of entrepreneurship, research and development, The Green Box is at the forefront of kick-starting the energy transition. Partnerships with educational institutions are therefore inextricably linked.

The Green Box provides everything needed for a pleasant working and living climate: a good infrastructure, excellently equipped production areas, flexible workplaces, a beautiful pond with a walking path for relaxation, and meeting rooms that are fully equipped.

Startups, students, innovators, and other people with good ideas are welcome.
